Why Rwanda?

Rwanda, the land of thousand hills

Rwanda is a patchwork quilt of many different landscapes and uncounted hills thus its global known name “Land of a Thousand Hills”. It is blessed with extraordinary biodiversity, with incredible wildlife living throughout its volcanoes, montane rainforest and sweeping plains.

Rwanda's breathtaking scenery and friendly people offer unique experiences in one of the most remarkable countries in the world. Travellers come from far and wide to catch a glimpse of the magnificent gorillas, yet there is so much more to see and experience. In the space of a week it is possible to experience many highlights thanks to the relatively compact size of our country.

Akagera National Park

Akagera is one of the biggest national parks in Rwanda. It's characterized by woodland, swamps, low mountains and savannah. The varied terrain shelters wildlife including zebra, giraffe, elephant, lion, antelope, buffalo, baboons, monkeys and hundreds of bird species, such as the rare shoebill stork and much more. The only way to explore the park is by vehicle, whether through a tour operator or self drive. The Akagera National Park also has a vehicle to hire, with individual spaces available on night drives. Sleeping within the park is possible, at various lodges, a bush camp in the north at select periods, or camping in specific sites.
